About us.
Hi! We are the Waite family. We settled in the southern part of Fulton County Pennsylvania, beginning our 20 acre homestead in 2019. We aren’t experts in anything, and don’t claim to have all the answers. We love growing our food, caring for livestock and raising our babies in this lifestyle. This is a space to share what we’ve learned, and promote the traditions that have been instilled in us since birth. Agriculture is all around us and we love sharing it with all those who may not have a front row seat to where their food comes from. Hunter and Katie, along with their three children are happy you’re here, and hope you gain some insight into this way of living and leave here with a little more knowledge than what you came with.
Chickens
On our little homestead we raise hackle chickens in partnership with Sideling Hill Hackle. These birds are raised from chicks here on our property, into maturity, then harvested for their feathers. Learn more about the hackle birds here.
Border Collies
A few times a year, we offer puppies that are perfect for any farm, homestead, ranch, or family. They’re the perfect combination of working and companion dogs. Read more about our dogs on the Blog. These dogs are bred in partnership with Plum Hollow Border Collies. Katie works for Plum Hollow Border Collies Part time managing their social media and website. Check it out!
Sheep
We raise purebred Cheviot sheep and katahdin crosses currently. Cheviots are the breed that Katie started with in 4-H almost two decades ago. Over the years the flock fluctuated in number and breed, but the favorite has always been Cheviots. Katie has raised breeds such as Suffolk, Hampshire, Dorset crosses, Karakul, Hog Island and various cross breeds in her time as a 4-H and FFA member. You can read more about our sheep on the blog, or visit Katie’s TikTok to see more of them!
